There are some side effects associated with some drugs. It is important to understand what you may face before you start treatment. Because of these side effects, your doctor may decide to reserve this treatment method till your child is older.

Approved injection medication that the FDA has approved for use in children as young as 4 years old include: Injected

  • Ixekizumab (Taltz)
  • etanercept (Enbrel)
  • Ustekinumab (Stelara)

Light therapy

Light therapy is another effective psoriasis treatment. Both natural and artificial light can help ease symptoms of psoriasis. Other options Include lasers and medications activated by light. Ensure to inform your child’s doctor before you start using light therapy. Close supervision is important as too much exposure to light can worsen symptoms.

To get natural sunlight, you can help your child with an extra dose by taking a walk together or playing for a while under the sun.
