Treatment for Psoriasis in kids

There’s currently no exact cure for psoriasis. However, treatment can be given to ease symptoms when they occur and also prevent further complications. Treatment options include:

Topical treatments

Topical treatments are highly recommended for psoriasis. They help reduce mild to moderate psoriasis. They include medicated and moisturizing:

  • Creams
  • Ointments
  • Lotions
  • Solutions

The topical treatment you use must be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) [5] for use in children of age 12. These include corticosteroids, vitamin D, calcipotriene, and treatments that combine the two.

Topical treatments are effective and cause fewer side effects than other treatments. They are to be applied more than once a day, depending on your doctor’s instructions.

You can set electronic reminders to help remind your child to apply them or schedule them around certain daily activities, like before you sleep or after waking up.
