Diagnosing psoriasis in kids

Healthcare professionals can easily identify psoriasis just by looking at their skin. Your healthcare professional will conduct a physical exam, this will entail questions like:
- which symptoms your child is experiencing
- whether they’re having joint pain, which could indicate juvenile psoriatic arthritis
- which medications your child is taking
- whether there’s a family history of psoriasis
- whether your child has been exposed to any of the common triggers of psoriasis
In some cases, a diagnostic test may also be conducted. A biopsy test can be done to help distinguish between psoriasis and other similar conditions, like eczema.
