The Best Psoriasis-friendly Foods for Kids

Plant-based foods

To hasten recovery, your child must consume large amounts of plant-based foods, such as:

  • Vegetables and fruits
  • Legumes include lentils, peas, and beans.
  • Whole grains, like brown rice, oats, wheat, quinoa, and brown rice.
  • Seeds and nuts include flax seeds, almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds.

Vegetables and fruits contain antioxidant substances which help reduce inflammation in children.

Seafood and fish

Seafood and fish are rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids [4]. You can add fish and other seafood to your child’s diet to prevent worsening symptoms.

Studies show that these fishes contain high levels of omega-3 fatty acids:

  • Mackerel
  • Salmon
  • Tuna
  • Trout
  • Sardines
  • Herring

You can also encourage your child to consume other omega-3 fatty acid supplements and fish oil supplements. It is essential to talk to your doctor before giving your child any supplements.

Lean protein

You can add protein to your child’s diet without reducing the consumption of saturated fats. Doctors recommend adding lean protein to your child’s diet. Examples of lean protein include:

  • Low-fat dairy products (whole fat dairy is recommended for children under age 2)
  • Skinless chicken or turkey breasts
  • Soy products, like tofu
  • Beans, peas, and lentils
