When to visit the doctor?

For a skin inspection, you should visit the doctor at least once a year, more frequently if you have melanoma risk factors.
Consult a doctor if your mole is crusted or scabbed and you are unable to locate a skin injury that might be to blame. To assess whether the mole might be more concerning, a doctor might examine it and, if necessary, do tests.
The key to treating and surviving melanoma is early detection. If you see a mole, don’t dismiss it out of worry or fear. In addition to giving you peace of mind, having a doctor look at a mole that’s worrying you could potentially influence the outcome if the lesion turns out to be serious.
