Harsh hair products
Certain chemicals or harsh products have also been traced to over-stripping the hair of its natural oils. “Your natural oils smooth the hair, which makes getting rid of those completely cause your hair to frizz up” explains Kim Kimble, hair stylist.
Examples of harsh products include:
- Perms
- Hair color
- Products containing sulfates [4]
- Products containing alcohol
Excessive lightening or bleaching and coloring of the hair with formulas that are too strong with ammonia contents can damage the surface of the hair, making it feel rough to the touch, stealing its shine, and creating frizz.
