Speed Braces – Effectiveness, Cost, Comparisons, and More

When to Talk with a Dental Professional

Orthodontic issues, such as overbites or overcrowded teeth, are often corrected during childhood or the preteen years. There are certain issues you or your child’s dentist may discover that indicate the need for braces. They include:

  • jaws that click or make noises while chewing
  • visibly crooked teeth
  • overcrowding of teeth
  • constantly biting the tongue or inner cheek
  • obvious overbite or underbite

You should talk to your child’s dentist about your concerns as soon as you notice them. Orthodontic treatment often starts between ages 9 and 14.

If your teeth are misaligned and you are unhappy with them or they affect your self-esteem, talk with a dental professional about your options. The use of braces have become a lot more common amongst teens and adults. After diagnosis, your dentist or orthodontist can create a realistic treatment plan that includes the type of braces that will work best for you and your budget.
