Hepatitis

Hepatitis [3] is a very common liver disease, it is a virus that leads to liver inflammation. There are different strains of hepatitis, which are called A, B, C, D, and E. They all have similar symptoms, such as fatigue, joint pain, stomach pain, fever, dark urine, itchy sky, nausea, yellowing of the eyes and skin, and muscle soreness.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, your doctor would also test you for elevated liver enzymes.

Alcohol or drugs use disorder

Too much intake of alcohol or the use of illicit drugs can lead to liver inflammation or complete damage.

Liver inflammation due to illicit drugs is called toxic hepatitis while liver inflammation due to alcohol consumption is called alcoholic hepatitis.

The symptoms of alcoholic and toxic hepatitis are similar to those of other strains of hepatitis.

The liver enzyme level could be affected if a person is experiencing symptoms of alcohol or drug use disorder. The doctor would need to carry out tests to check the liver enzyme level and offer different forms of treatment and support.
