Fatigue and Crohn’s disease

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) describes fatigue as a common symptom of inflammatory bowel disease. The level of fatigue that occurs depends on the severity of the disease.
According to a 2010 study on IBD and fatigue, about 41 to 48 percent of adults with IBD deal with fatigue during their remission period and about 86 percent of adults with mild or severe Crohn’s disease may experience fatigue. A 2019 study on 113 people diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease confirm these findings.
Research shows that fatigue is more common during the flare-up period with 80-82.9% than the remission period with 39.5 to 44.2 %
