How Do You Identify Poisonous Plants?

There are poisonous plants all around the United States, with the exception of Hawaii and Alaska. And every poisonous plant has a unique look.
How Does Poison Ivy Look?
To identify a poison ivy plant, you have to examine the leaves of the poison. The poison ivy plant has three leaflets on each leaf. The proverb “leaves of three, let them be” is often used. In spring, the leaves of poison ivy turn crimson; in summer, they turn green; and in autumn, they turn yellow, orange or red.
Poison ivy can be a vine or a shrub. Poison ivy is a hairy, rope-like vine. Most poison ivy in the Eastern United States grows as a vine. Poison ivy often grows as a low-lying shrub in the Western United States. The thorns of poison ivy are absent.
