What Is Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)?

Having Insufficient DHT

High levels of DHT can raise the chances of developing certain medical conditions, but having too little or insufficient DHT can cause issues in your sexual growth as you undergo puberty.

Low DHT can impede the onset of puberty for all sexes. The effect of low DHT in men is more than in women. Low DHT can cause the following in men:

  • Late or incomplete development of sex organs, such as the penis or testes. [1]
  • Increase in risk of developing aggressive prostrate tumors. [2]
  • Changes in body fat distribution leading to conditions such as gynecomastia.
