It has been stated earlier that metoprolol has its positive and negative effects. However, some of these effects are dangerous and should be explained properly. These effects are:

- Older people: the effects are the same in the older and younger people. However, there is an increased risk of side effects because the kidneys and livers of older people may take more time in eliminating this drug from the body system.
- Boxed warning: there is a boxed warning from the food and drug administration (FDA) [6] which states that stopping the drug suddenly may lead to heart problems. Therefore, it is advised to speak to the doctor before taking this step to know the right approach to stop a dosage.
