Guide to stool collection
- First label your container with your name and necessary information to avoid mixing.
- Wear disposable plastic gloves to protect your hands from fecal matter.
- Sit on the toilet bowl as you hold your anus while providing a sample. Try to provide at least one inch long of hard stool.
- After collecting the sample, dispose of the gloves and other materials used.
- Wash your hands after.
- Immediately send your stool sample to your doctor or directly to the laboratory.
Your stool sample will become untestable after 3 days.
