Is 5G Harmful To People?

What is 5G?

Wireless technology has become one of the most popular innovations in the tech industry. Wired networks used to be the only means of internet connection. Things changed approximately 10 years ago, when mobile companies released a new generation of wireless systems. Each generation is a faster and more advanced version of the previous one. 5G is a network of wireless technology. It stands for “fifth generation.” It is the latest and fastest mode of network that helps send data from one appliance to another. It uses electromagnetic radiation to facilitate transmission of data across devices. Its frequency is higher than other wireless networks; this is what makes it faster and more stable.

When a 5G network produces electromagnetic frequencies, a region known as electromagnetic field (EMF) is created. In recent times, speculations have risen about how the EMF affects people’s health. Although there is no evidence to show that the network has negative effects on health, some people still believe it does.

5G increases the efficiency of network services and the number of electronic devices, such as telesurgery, remote surveillance, telemedicine, virtual reality appliances, and self-driving cars. The frequencies used in 5G network ranges from 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) to about 10GHz. Electromagnetic frequencies can be created by anything that uses electricity, such as:

  • Microwaves
  • Power lines
  • Computers

5G also uses a technique known as beamforming to transmit data directly to devices. Unlike the networks available in previous generations, this technique sends signals in one direction.
