Signs and Symptoms of Appendicitis

Critical Symptom

When the organ (appendix) eventually ruptures, the body’s defences tend to block the infection, generating an abscess. In some cases, the infectious content spreads through the abdominal cavity, causing peritonitis, or inflammation of the peritoneum.

The person in this situation has severe pain that makes simple actions like changing positions and walking impossible – a simple cough can cause unbearable pain. In addition, the abdomen has extreme stiffness.

Surgery is essential in these case, and therefore, the patient should be referred to the emergency department as soon as possible to avoid a generalized infection or sepsis.
