Symptoms of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Most people with AAA don’t have or experience any symptoms until the aneurysm is close to rupturing. At that point you may experience:
- Pain in your leg, groin or pelvic area
- Steady deep pain in your lower back or abdomen
- A pulsing sensation in your belly that feels like a heartbeat.
A ruptured AAA is a medical emergency. Symptoms begin suddenly and unexpectedly and can include:
- Low blood pressure
- Severe pain in your lower back, belly or legs
- Fast heartbeat
- Shortness of breath
- Nausea [1]
- Vomiting
- Dizziness or fainting
- Clammy, sweaty skin.
Call 911 or your local emergency number if you experience any symptoms of ruptured aneurysm.
