Avascular necrosis

Avascular necrosis (AVN) is also known as osteonecrosis, it is a painful shoulder arthritic disorder that occurs when something disrupts the blood supply to the head of your humerus, which is the upper arm bone that connects your elbow joint to your shoulder joint. Without enough nutrients or oxygen, the affected bone cells begin to die.
AVN is a progressive condition, at first, there are tiny cracks or fissures in your bone tissues. As the condition progresses, it causes the affected bone to gradually collapse, damaging both the cartilage and the joint itself in the process.
AVN is caused when the blood flow to your shoulder is interrupted. This happens when there is a bone fracture near the joint or a shoulder dislocation [5].
AVN can also be caused by fatty deposits in the smaller blood vessels that feed your bones. This factor puts people who take alcohol or corticosteroids [6] for a long time at a greater risk of developing AVN because both of these increase the fatty deposits.
Although AVN can affect people of all ages, it’s most common in middle-aged adults.
Conclusion
Shoulder Arthritis no matter the type is a very serious condition that requires proper care and treatment. Contact your doctor if you feel any pain in your shoulder. Your doctor will make a diagnosis and administer what treatment is best for your condition.
