Causes of Eosinophilic Asthma

Sex

Unlike other types of asthma that affect women more than men, studies have shown that Eosinophilic Asthma affects both genders at about the same rate, which means this condition affects males and females at the same percentage. However, studies have shown that female patients may experience more severe symptoms of inflammatory phenotypes than male patients. [5]Research has also shown the role of hormone-related events on asthma-related traits. [6]

Diseases

Eosinophilia occurs when a large number of eosinophils are recruited to a specific site in your body or when the bone marrow produces too many eosinophils. The spike in the levels of these cells may be caused by a variety of factors, including parasitic and fungal diseases, allergic reactions, adrenal problems, skin disorders, toxins, autoimmune disorders, endocrine disorders, lesions, or tumors. The immune system’s response to diseases and infections is to produce diseases fighting agents like lymphocytes (white blood cells), of which eosinophils is one of them. This may cause abnormal levels of these cells and increase the risks of developing the condition.
