Non-Verbal Autism: Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment

Causes of Nonverbal Autism

The exact cause of nonverbal autism is unknown. But several factors play significant roles in causing the disorder. More research needs to be done to learn the exact cause of autism.

  • Age of Parent: According to research, children born to older parents are more prone to autism.
  • Genetic Mutations and Disorders: People with tuberous sclerosis [2] and fragile X syndrome [3] are more susceptible to nonverbal autism.
  • Prenatal Exposure: Some toxins that come in contact with the mother or fetus during pregnancy can result in autism.
  • Family History: If someone in your family has autism, you will be at risk of developing the disorder.
  • Premature Birth: Children who weigh less than normal are more prone to the disorder.
  • Metabolic and Chemical Imbalances: When the chemicals or hormones in your brain are imbalanced, it may result in several alterations in the brain, which may cause autism.

Contrary to popular opinion, vaccines cannot lead to autism.
