Signs of Non-Speaking Autism

According to studies, 30-40 percent of children with non-speaking autism start to observe symptoms before one year old, while 60-70 percent observe symptoms after 2 years old.
You may notice these early signs in your child:
- Not responding to their name by 12 months old.
- Get angry when their routine is disrupted.
- Not playing or laughing along with their parents by 12 months old.
- Not pointing to objects, they love by 14 months old.
- Moving their body or clapping their hands for comfort.
- Not playing pretend by 18 months old.
- Preferring to be alone or avoiding eye contact.
- Not reaching certain development targets for language and speech.
- Repeating phrases or words many times.
