Genetics and Environmental Factors
There are different genes involved in autism spectrum disorder. In some children, a genetic disorder such as fragile X syndrome or Rett syndrome [2] is associated with autism spectrum disorder. In other children, mutations (genetic changes [3]) may result in an increase of the risks of ASD. There are also other genes that may affect or interfere with brain development or the communication between brain cells. There are genetic mutations that occur simultaneously while some are inherited.
There is a lot of ongoing research to determine whether factors like medications, viral infections, air pollutants or pregnancy complications can play a part in traveling Autism spectrum disorder.
