Ice and/or Heat Therapy

Heat therapy and ice therapy has proven to be effective remedy for stiff neck. You can apply ice pack to your neck for 15-minute intervals during the first 48 to 72 hours. This will help reduce pain and inflammation. After the first 48 to 72 hours, you can apply moist heat to the area for about 20 minutes to help promote blood flow to your neck and encourage healing. Also, the warmth will help relieve sore muscles. You can also alternate these two therapies for optimal results.
