Conclusion

Axillary lymph node dissection is treatment recommended for people that have breast cancer. It plays an essential role in surgical management of breast cancer. The procedure involves the removal of potential cancerous tumors in the lymph nodes in your underarm. ALND is done in conjunction with other treatments for breast cancer with the aim of preventing the spread. Although ALND is a necessary step in treating breast cancer, your doctor will still need to discuss possible risks associated with it. At the end of the surgery, your surgeon will give detailed instructions on how to take care of the affected area.
