Chest Tightness: Causes and Relief Tips

When to See A Doctor and Treatment for Tight Chest

It is an emergency situation if you suspect that you are having a heart attack, so you should immediately see a doctor. Symptoms of a heart attack include:

  • burning
  • pain
  • squeezing
  • nausea
  • pain that lasts for several minutes
  • cold sweating
  • continual pain in the middle of your chest
  • pain that travels to other areas of the body
  • difficulty breathing

To identify the reason for your chest tightness, your doctor will do tests. Your symptoms can be brought on by anxiety if the testing for a heart attack are negative.

If you encounter chest tightness again, you should discuss your symptoms with your doctor to decide when to need emergency medical help. Your chest tightness may be connected to other symptoms that will allow you to distinguish between worry and a cardiac event.
