Compression Fractures: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment

How common are complication fractures

Compression fractures are quite common. In the US, there are around 1 million compression fractures per year. Osteoporosis [1], a disorder that makes bones brittle and weak, makes these spine fractures more likely in elderly women. They can also affect elderly men.

According to doctors, one in four women over 50 years suffer compression fractures. Those who have gone through menopause are more likely to experience them. The majority of those over 80 have experienced compression fractures.
