Treatment for Neck Pain

A medical professional will examine you physically and record all of your medical history. Prepare yourself to describe your symptoms in detail. Include all prescription, over-the-counter (OTC), and dietary supplement usage in your disclosure to the doctor.
You should also tell your doctor about any recent incidents or injuries you’ve had, even if they don’t appear linked.
The reason behind the neck pain is what determines how to treat it. Your doctor will do a complete history and physical examination, but one or more of the imaging procedures and tests listed below may also be required to assist diagnose your neck pain and pinpoint its cause:

- antibiotics if you have an infection

- surgery, which is rarely necessary
