A pinworm infection can be treated with medicines and a strict cleaning schedule. However, because of how highly contagious the infection is and the invisibility of the parasite, repeat infections are possible.
When a pinworm larva hatches and reenters the anus, the infection might occur again. Ingesting pinworm eggs increases the risk of reinfection. If pinworm eggs are on the hands or become airborne, this may occur.
