The term “spondyloarthritis” refers to a set of inflammatory conditions that result in arthritis or joint inflammation. It is believed that most inflammatory illnesses are inherited. There is currently no scientific support for the idea that the illness is preventable.
There are two classes of spondyloarthritis: axial and peripheral. The pelvic joints and spine are primarily affected by the axial form. The limbs are impacted by the peripheral form. Inflammation in the digestive system, eyes, and regions where ligaments and tendons join to your bones may also be brought on by the illness.
Types of Spondyloarthritis
The most prevalent kind of spondyloarthritis is Ankylosing spondylitis (AS). This type mainly impacts the spin. It might also impact other big joints in the body.
The following further spondyloarthritis subtypes are traditionally recognized:
- Reactive arthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis [1]
- Enteropathic arthritis
- Undifferentiated spondyloarthritis
- Juvenile spondyloarthritis
These spondyloarthritis subtypes can fall under axial or peripheral classification.
