What Causes Rectal Bleeding?

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) [5] signifies a group of intestinal disorders that cause prolonged inflammation in the digestive tract. The significant types of IBD include ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Note that inflammatory disease causes rectal bleeding in some cases due to genetics and the immune system. Individuals who smoke or have a family history of the condition are at a high risk of having inflammatory bowel disease, resulting in rectal bleeding.

Diarrhea

The tears in the lining of the anus are called anal fissures, and they cause rectal bleeding. In most cases, the bleeding is due to constipation or hard stools. However, there are scenarios where the rectal bleeding is due to diarrhea.

Note that bleeding diarrhea may be due to bacterial infections, which can last for a long period when they are not treated appropriately. Note that bleeding diarrhea symptoms from a bacterial infection may be different and typically includes fever, vomiting, and intense stomach cramps.
