Memantine
Memantine is used in treating the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease (a type of dementia that slowly destroys the memory and ability to interact, learn, think and handle daily activities). It works by reducing abnormal movements going on in the brain cell. Although memantine will not cure or stop the loss of abilities like thinking and remember, it might help improve and slow the process of losing these abilities. Memantine is sometimes prescribed with donepezil [14] for the moderate treatment of severe dementia.
Side effects can include headaches, dizziness, and constipation, although they are usually temporary.
