Other Symptoms of a Pre-Stroke

FAST is the go-to protocol when identifying either strokes or pre-strokes. Several other symptoms accompany a pre-stroke. These symptoms may appear for only a few seconds or minutes. They include [6]:
- Paralysis or numbness on one side of the body
- Temporary loss of vision in one eye, blurry, or double vision
- Confusion
- Partial loss of consciousness
- Difficulty maintaining balance
- Altered sense of smell and taste
- Difficulty understanding what others are saying
- Dizziness
- Severe headache
- Difficulty swallowing
- Vertigo
- Tingling
