What are the risk factors for EGFR mutation lung cancer?

EGFR mutations can happen to anyone, although are more common among:

  • women
  • people with lung adenocarcinoma compared with other subtypes of NSCLC
  • people who never smoked or light smokers
  • young adults
  • people of Asian descent

Risk factors for lung cancer in general include:

  • smoking
  • genetic risk factors
  • air pollution exposure
  • occupational exposures, such as asbestos, metals, and diesel fumes
