Immunochemical faecal occult blood test (iFBOT)

An iFBOT is done depending on your symptoms. The test may be used if you have symptoms like abdominal pain, changes to their bowel movement, and unexplained weight loss of anemia. The test is not recommended if you are bleeding from the rectum.
The test requires that a sample of your stools is taken to the lab. The sample is examined under a microscope for traces of blood which could be a sign of polyp, colon cancer or other bowel condition. With iFBOT conclusions can’t be made, however, if blood is detected, your doctor will recommend a colonoscopy for confirmation.
