Treatment of bowel cancer

There are several treatments for bowel. The approach of treatment given depends on which part of your bowel the cancer is in and also how much it has spread. After confirmation that you have bowel cancer, the main treatment options include:

Surgery: this is the most effective way of curing bowel cancer. It involves the complete removal of the cancerous section of the bowel.
Radiotherapy: the use of radiation to kill cancer
Chemotherapy: the use of medicine to kill cancer
Targeted therapies: medicine that increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy and prevents the cancer spreading.

If it can be completely cured depends on how far it has spread by the time it is diagnosed. If it hasn’t spread much surgery is usually able to remove it completely. For quicker recovery keyhole or robotic surgery is being used.
