Neuroblastoma Staging

Neuroblastoma staging involves grouping the cancer based on its location and how far it has metastasized. Staging is often done after diagnosis. The stage of your child’s cancer usually determines the mode and course of treatment. Staging is highly imperative in testing neuroblastoma.
There are four stages of neuroblastoma:
Stage 1
The tumor is in only one part of your child’s body. It has not metastasized yet, and it can easily be removed by your child’s doctor.
Stage 2
In stage 2A, the tumor is in only one part of your child’s body, but your child’s doctor can not completely remove it via surgery. In this stage, the cancer cells are not found in the local lymph nodes.
In stage 2B, the tumor is in one part of your child’s body, and it can be completely removed via surgery. However, unlike stage 2A, cancer cells can be found in the lymph nodes near your child’s tumor.
