Common Symptoms of Colitis

Stomach Rumbling

The abdominal noises that you hear are most probably due to the passage through of liquids, food, digestive juices, and air through the small intestines. Your abdomen can grumble or growl when your bowels process food. This is because the gastrointestinal tract walls are largely composed of muscle.

There is an increase in the amount of bowel movement in people that have colitis (up to 10 bowel movements per day). This often leads to the frequent gurgling sounds heard in patients with colitis.

The treatment for colitis is done with the objective of relieving the symptoms, and drugs such as Paracetamol or Ibuprofen is often prescribed by the doctor for use to relieve abdominal pain and reduce fever

Contact a doctor if you experience symptoms related to possible colitis. If you experience the above symptoms, consult a gastroenterologist who specializes in the gastrointestinal tract.
