Try Prunes

Prune is used as part of many folk remedies and is said to be effective in relieving constipation. Prune contains fiber and studies [13] have shown that this fiber may work better than psyllium fiber in treating constipation.
Prune also contains sorbitol [14], a type of sugar alcohol that has laxative properties. This may be part of the reason for its effectiveness in treating constipation.
If using prune for constipation, aim to take about 50 g [15] twice a day until you feel better. This amounts to roughly seven medium prunes. If you have irritable bowel syndrome, prunes may not be your best option. Prune contains sugar, which can trigger your symptoms.
