What to Do If Your Toddler Is Constipated

The use of petroleum jelly & Massage

When a child is constipated, try putting a little bit of petroleum jelly around the outer part of the toddler’s anus. The process of applying the petroleum jelly there, touching the anus, gives them extra stimulation, which then provokes a bowel movement and helps their poop come out smoother. When lubricating their anus, we should try to be careful; not only will the lubrication smoothen the passage of the poop, it would also relieve them of the pain.

Giving massage to the stomach region of the affected toddler can help relieve constipation by gently pushing the feet and knees that are held together towards the belly area, by making circular motions on the stomach region in a clockwise direction using the fingertips. Walking the fingers around the navel region can also help relieve the pain the toddler might be going through.
