Crohn’s Disease: How Do I Get To Remission?

Types of Remission

The types of remission include;

Clinical Remission

In this type, no symptoms are seen. It is caused by medications, but it can occur on its own. People using corticosteroids are not on remission. [2]

Deep healing, endoscopic remission and mucosal healing are methods used by doctors to observe the colon with a tiny camera at the end of a flexible tube.

Histologic Remission

Cells in the colon are observed under a microscope. It is important to know that this type of remission is not well defined because there are different scoring systems for Crohn’s.

Surgical Remission

This is a type of remission that is caused by ileocolonic surgery. This is the most popular surgery for Crohn’s disease. It is done by removing the terminal ileum, where the small intestine joins the large intestine.

Biochemical Remission

There are certain substances in the blood and poop that are signs of inflammation. This type of remission involves using these substances to treat the disease.
