Symptoms of a blockage

When you consume foods that are unhealthy for the condition it can lead to blockage. Blockages can also be caused by adhesions or scar tissue, narrowing of the bowel, certain foods may lead to constipation. It is important to know the manifestations of blockages, such as:

  • Lack of stools
  • Bloated stomach [1]
  • Extremely watery stools
  • Abdominal pain [2] and cramping
  • Nausea [3] and vomiting

Your doctor will advise you to stop eating but continue drinking lots of fluids to reduce the blockage. If your symptoms occur for more than 12 hours, you should visit your doctor immediately for advice. If you start to feel serious stomach pain or vomiting go to an A&E department immediately.
