10 Home Remedies for Dehydration

Homemade oral rehydration solution (ORS)

Making an oral rehydration solution yourself is one of the easiest ways to combat dehydration when other methods are unavailable. To prepare it, all you need is some salt, sugar, and water. Add three teaspoons of sugar to about two cups of water. Mix this with ¼ teaspoon of salt.

The salt is to help compensate for the loss of electrolytes that takes place during dehydration. You can drink up to three liters of your ORS daily. Some people continue to sip this throughout the day until the dehydration symptoms subside. This drink is safe for babies over six months.
