Diabetes and Your Eyes – Things to Know

Blurry vision

When you find it difficult to define details in what you are seeing, then you are experiencing blurry vision [2]. It is majorly caused by diabetes and it implies that your glucose level is not in a healthy range (either too high or too low).

In some cases, leaking fluids into the eye lens could cause blurry vision. This causes the lens to swell and change shape. Changes in the shape of the lens make it difficult for your eyes to focus, so objects begin to appear blurry.

Insulin treatment can also cause blurred vision. This is because of fluid shifting, but it mostly heals after some weeks or months. In most cases, as the blood sugar stabilizes, your vision returns to normal.
