Genetic testing for type 2 diabetes
There are tests that can be done for some gene mutations in relation with type 2 diabetes. The Increased risk for any given is small, however.
There are other more accurate wats to know whether you’ll develop type 2 diabetes, such as:
- Your family history
- Body Maas index (BMI) [4]
- High blood pressure
- A history of gestational diabetes
- High triglycerides and cholesterol levels
Based on research, type 2 diabetes occurs more frequently in Hispanic, African American, and Asian American people compared with other ethnic groups. This may be due to health inequities that are prevalent in marginalized communities.
