Vision problem

Diabetes can cause damage to the blood vessels in your eyes. Thereby increasing your chances of developing serious eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma [7], and diabetic retinopathy. These conditions can result in vision loss.

It is important that you immediately see your doctor if you start to notice any vision problems. Early prevention can help prevent total blindness.

Stroke

Strokes tend to occur when the blood clot blocks a blood vessel in the brain. According to the American Diabetes Association people with diabetes are 1.5 times more likely to have a stroke. Other factors that increase your risk of a stroke include:

  • Smoking
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Having obesity
  • High cholesterol
