Nerve damage

Having type 2 diabetes increases the risk of nerve damage and pain, a condition known as diabetic neuropathy. This is a very common diabetes complication. There are majorly two types of diabetic neuropathy [8], they include peripheral neuropathy and autonomic neuropathy.
Symptoms of diabetic neuropathy include:
- Vision problem
- Diarrhea
- Chronic pain
- Loss of balance
- Weakness
- Erectile dysfunction
- Vaginal dryness
Other possible complications
- Foot ulcers
- Gastroparesis
- Kidney damage
- Mental health
- Dementia [9]
- Tooth decay
Some of these complications are life-threatening. It is best to immediately see your doctor if you notice symptoms of any of these conditions.
