The recent discussion on new types of diabetes

There are about two new discoveries of a different type of diabetes. Although they aren’t yet official types of diabetes or diagnosis, more research is still being done on them. These two new discoveries include:
- Type 3 diabetes
Type 3 diabetes describes when insulin resistance leads to complications such as Alzheimer’s disease, a form of dementia. Research done in 2018 showed that people with type 2 diabetes are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease.
- Type 4 diabetes
Type 4 diabetes is a new discovery. It is used to describe diabetes caused by insulin resistance in older people who are not overweight or have obesity. A 2015 study [4] with mice suggested this type of diabetes might be widely underdiagnosed. This is because it occurs in people who are older age and are not obese or overweight.
