The flu is a virus infection that attacks the respiratory organs, and has been seen to affect many people each year.  The virus can affect anyone, no matter the age or gender, it causes mild to severe symptoms. Some common symptoms of the flu are coughing, body aches, fever [1], runny nose, sore throat and fatigue. There may be no complications till you recover, these symptoms typically improve in about a week.

But the case is different in older adults whose immune system might be weaker, the flu is more dangerous. And the risk of complications like pneumonia is higher in older adults. Flu-related deaths are more common among people who are 65 or older, which is why it is best that you know how to protect yourself before and after the virus infection. Up to 85 percent of seasonal flu-related deaths occur in people who are 65 or older.

There are several ways to protect and keep yourself safe from this virus especially in this doubly dangerous flu season. Some of which include:
