CBD Oil for Gout Relief: Is It Helpful?

Can CBD be used to treat gout pain?

Inflammation and pain are regulated by the endocannabinoid system, according to a 2017 review [4]. It is so feasible that a cannabinoid, such as CBD, will interact with the end-cannabinoid system to reduce gout pain and inflammation.

However, there are no scientific trials examining the efficacy of CBD in treating gout in people. THC and other non-CBD cannabinoids have been studied for their potential to treat comparable symptoms like pain and inflammation.

There has only been one investigation into CBD’s potential for treating human pain: a randomized controlled experiment in 2021 [5] Australian.

The use of oral CBD for patients who presented to emergency rooms with severe lower back pain was examined by the authors. They claimed that CBD was equally as efficient as a placebo at reducing pain. Unfortunately, the study had a rather small sample size of only 100 individuals. Moreover, gout is a distinct ailment from severe lower back pain.

Next, a sizable 2021 survey [6] examined CBD consumption among fibromyalgia sufferers. Sixty percent of survey respondents said they have used or experimented with CBD. Among them, 30 to 40% of respondents indicated that it significantly or very significantly reduced their symptoms, notably their pain.

Even though this survey lacks the scientific rigor of a clinical study to prove cause and effect, it offers helpful hypotheses. Given the present opioid epidemic, further study is necessary to determine whether and how CBD can assist relieve pain.
