Foods That Lower Uric Acid for Gout Relief

Coffee

Not many people know that coffee can help control gout symptoms. Studies show that coffee helps reduce uric acid concentration in the blood, but this benefit may be sex-dependent. A recent study [8] found that men who took four to five cups of coffee every day had a 40 percent reduced risk of gout compared to those who did not take coffee. This percentage bumped up to 59 percent in people who took six cups of coffee a day.

In the same study, women who took four or more cups had a 57 percent reduced risk of gout compared with people who did not drink coffee every day. The percentage was 22 percent in women who took less than four cups of coffee per day.
