Medication Abuse
Medication Overuse Headaches (MOH) is the most common type of headache after tension-type headache and migraine. Pain relievers are used to alleviate soreness; however, overuse of these painkillers may trigger pains called Medication Overuse Headaches (MOH). MOH occurs when you take pain relievers too frequently and usually lasts all through the period the drugs are in your system. Usually, when your headache is present for 15 days or more in a month and it gets worse while taking regular symptomatic medication, MOH should be considered.
Medication overuse headaches (MOH) can be prevented and treated, but this is not always an easy task. Most patients may choose to discontinue the drug in an outpatient clinic, but complex cases may require hospitalization for treatment.[11] [12]
